Movember!!!

November 14th, 2010 by Cllr Karen Chilvers

Something strange is grooming in Brentwood West this month…. Cllr Nigel Clarke is growing a very dodgy moustache (or “mo”) for charity.  It’s Movember, apparently!

In Movember, men are challenged to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache for 30 days to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer (funds raised benefit The Prostate Cancer Charity).  In the UK, Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 36,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year and one man dies every hour of prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Charity is the UK’s leading charity working with people affected by prostate cancer and they fund research, provide support & information and campaign to improve the lives of men with prostate cancer

So, it is a very good cause indeed.  If you want to sponsor Nigel – and let’s face it it is highly amusing so worth a few quid of anyone’s money – you can do so here or pop in to the shop at 31 Crown Street for a laugh too!

Very upset for residents that #brunelhouse has been approved. I will work with you all to improve the area with the hand we've been dealt.

Cllr Parker has just spoke in favour of #brunelhouse & it looks like Cllr Braid is just saying we need more flats there. He lives in Hutton
