Give a few bob
Another night out last night! This time in connection with my day job!
I went to a Marketing Society lecture on Not for Profit marketing, which was excellent.
We were treated to the story of the “Give a Few Bob” campaign, the film that was made starring Bob Monkhouse, after his death in 2003. Incredibly, the entire staff of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation consists of three people and they created this wonderful campaign which has raised a huge amount for prostate cancer research, a disease that kills a man an hour in the UK.
If you want to see the film, click here: www.giveafewbob.org and if you want to give a few bob, I’m sure the charity will be over the moon!

Hi as the writer of the Give a few bob campaign (or should I say co-writer as I stole as much material from Bob as I could). I just wanted to say thank you to Karen for helping to keep the issue alive… the more it’s discussed in the public arena and the more people realise it is the most common male cancer (it kills a man every hour in the UK and one man in eleven will get the disease), the more chance there is of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation receiving enough in donations to fund that crucial piece of research that will possibly even provide a cure.

Alan, no problem at all! The story of how the advertisement came about is fantastic and a credit to everyone involved! Karen

Hi Karen, please can I echo Alan’s comment, it is great for us, and for prostate cancer that you are talking about our film, and so glad you enjoyed the evening.
